Fitting Tips: How Tracht Should Fit
Dirndl Fit
- Bodice: Snug but you should still be able to breathe comfortably. The bodice shapes the waist — it should not have wrinkles.
- Skirt: Should not pull or cling, it should fall loosely. Length is a matter of personal taste (mini, midi, maxi).
- Blouse: Should not slip under the bodice. Carmen style for a nice neckline, high-neck for a more elegant look.
- Apron: Tied on the left (single) or right (taken). The apron should be slightly shorter than the skirt.
Lederhosen Fit
- Fit: Lederhosen should fit snugly — leather stretches and loosens over time. When buying, go slightly tighter.
- Length: Short Lederhosen end 5-10 cm above the knee. Kniebundlederhose close at the knee.
- Suspenders: A must! The H-shaped suspender style is classically Bavarian. They should not dig in.
- Socks: Wadl-stockings (wool knee-high socks) complete the look. Optionally add a Charivari chain on the waistband.
